A few days ago Scotty has just finished his lunch and I was cleaning up his mess, when I heard giggling coming from the hall that leads to the entry way. This could only mean one thing, I had not put the gate back infront of the stairs and Scotty was excitedly about to go up them unassisted. So without taking a moment to put away what was in my hand, I ran immediatly to him. Sure enough he was already on the 4th step. When he saw me coming he giggled more and picked up the pace. Step 5, Step 6... I threw the half eaten bowl of veggies that I had been getting ready to put in the fidge, before my mad dash to the stairs, on the entry table and ran up after Scotty. Instead of grabbing him and bringing him back downstairs, I followed closely behind him as he made his way up the stairs. We played in his room for awhile, read some books in the rocking chair and even cleaned up his tub toys that had been left about after his morning bath. By the time we came back down the stairs, I had all but forgotten the bowl of veggies left on the entryway table.
As I went to the kitchen and finished cleaning, Scotty found the bowl and decided to make a snack out of the peas, carrots, corn and green beans. Any that happened to fall onto the floor, became Keeley's afternoon snack (Keeley is quickly learning that if Scotty has food, he should stay close by). And then when the food was gone, he politely put the empty bowl back where he had found it.
